Book Club Returns to Village Hall
By June Melber
On Thursday, September 14, the Riverwoods Book Club will meet for the first time at the new and improved Village Hall.
Our first selection to start this fall season will be Barkskins, by Annie Proulx. A historical novel about the settling of New France, Acadia, and the eastern U.S., as lived by the early loggers and fur traders, and the families they founded.
Our second selection will be the endearing, haunting novel Our Souls at Night, by Kent Haruf. A very unique kind of story about a relationship which develops between a widow and widower in their 70’s. Date to be determined.
Selection number three will be A Life in Secrets, by Sarah Helm. The true story of the Mata Hari of British spies during WWII. Date to be determined.
Plan to join us at 10am for our first discussion in the new Village Hall. New members, resident or nonresident, are always welcome. Refreshments will be served, and it’s all free of charge. We look forward to the pleasure of your company.
